Same spirit, more races...
Team spirit together with long distance performance, as embodied by the "Le Mans 24 Hours" is the credo of the "Le Mans Series". As a most legendary race, the French event's duty is to offer its competitors a full season to race their cars and contain the costs. Furthermore, offering a direct selection for the "24 Hours of Le Mans" to the two winners of each category is definitely a bonus for the series.
...Sportsmanship remains a must
A.C.O. guaranteed seriousness and professionalism; construction of a friendly environment within the teams; all open to the public, is a formula that gives everybody the opportunity to take advantage of motor racing in another way. The choice between GT and Prototype cars give the competitors the opportunity to compete in a first-class series according to their means. Furthermore, the four categories fighting in their own class offer four shows!
After four years of existence the formula seems to be a winning one!
About fifty cars on each starting grid, four races in 2004, five in 2005 and 2006, plus an overseas Brazilian round in 2007: the series has become a major one that the 2008 season will not deny… The return of Audi fighting against Peugeot in the LMP1 diesel category whereas Pescarolo intends to win the "petrol LMP1" (sic). Without forgetting the appearance of Porsche in "LM"P2 and of a Lola to be powered by Aston Martin...
The Prototypes open for sure a new era for this sixth season whereas the GTs see the arrival of a Lamborghini within a LMGT1 grid already including Aston Martin, Corvette and Saleen.
